International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces

IUI'97

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

IUI started as a conference series with IUI97

The 1997 IUI meeting is the third in a series of gatherings of the intelligent interfaces community. Started in 1988 in Monterey, California, it moved to Orlando, Florida in 1993 for what it turned out to be a very successful event. The series will now become an annual conference starting in 1997, and will provide a much needed forum for outstanding research and development on intelligent interfaces.

We especially encourage industrial researchers and developers to attend. It is time for IUI technologies to make their way into products, but for this to happen there must be a dialog between research and industry.

Scope and Topics

The conference will run on a single track of presentations, including papers, panels, posters and demonstrations that address the theory, design, development, and evaluation of intelligent user interfaces. We have received many submissions, and have set a high standard for acceptance. Topics of submitted papers include:

Knowledge-based tools and environments for user interface design and development.
Intelligent front-ends to interactive, multimedia, hypermedia, or knowledge-based systems.
Adaptive and customizable user interfaces.
Intelligent agents and agent-based interaction.
Architectures for intelligent, cooperative, distributed, and multimodal interfaces.
Cognitive user modeling.
Evaluation and analysis of intelligent and agent-based interfaces; discussion of actually deployed interfaces and the development/deployment process are encouraged.
Application-specific designs: intelligent user interfaces for tutoring and advisory systems, medical informatics, planning and explanation, distributed Internet-based systems, information retrieval, computer-supported cooperative work, decision support, etc.
